New 5-km canal-side road inaugurated between Surat and Dumas

Surat: Minister of State for Home and Sports Harsh Sanghavi on Friday inaugurated development works—including roads, streetlights, and stormwater drains—carried out by the Surat Municipal Corporation at a cost of ₹21.28 crore on Dumas Canal Road in Surat. Among these was a newly constructed 5-km road running parallel to the Surat-Dumas Road.

On the occasion, the Minister said that Dumas Beach is a popular tourist destination, but traffic congestion was a common issue during holidays. To resolve this, a new 5-km-long Surat-Dumas Road has been constructed from the ONGC Bridge to the Silent Zone Junction, ensuring smooth access to the beach for city residents without traffic disruptions.

Additionally, 6-meter-wide service roads have been built on both sides of the 36-meter-wide canal road, offering an alternative route to the airport, Dumas Beach, and the upcoming “Dumas Sea Face Development Project.”

MLA Sandeep Desai added that the new road will also enhance connectivity to villages such as Dumas, Bhimpore, Sultanabad, and Kadiphaliya, benefiting more than one lakh people. DeshGujarat
