Mumbai Indians vs Punjab Kings relocated to Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: The Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera is set to host one more match during the ongoing IPL season, but this match will not involve the home team Gujarat Titans. The fixture between Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings, originally scheduled to be played on May 11 in Dharamshala, has been relocated to Ahmedabad.

This decision comes following the closure of Dharamshala Airport in the wake of Operation Sindoor, launched by the Indian Armed Forces against terror camps in Pakistan.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), in an official note, said, “TATA IPL Match number 61 between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians, originally scheduled to be played in Himachal Pradesh’s Dharamshala on Sunday, May 11, has been relocated to the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The venue change has been necessitated due to logistical challenges.”

Mumbai Indians, who were scheduled to arrive in Dharamshala, could not travel due to the airport’s closure, which made the venue shift necessary.

Several airports in northern and western India, particularly near the Indo-Pak border, have been closed for civilian operations. These include Bhuj, Rajkot, Kandla, and Jamnagar airports in Gujarat. DeshGujarat
