Blackout enforced across the entire Kutch district; 3 Pakistani UAVs shot down
May 08, 2025
Bhuj: Amid the rising escalation and failed aerial attack attempts by the Pakistani army, the Gujarat government has enforced a complete blackout across the entire district of Kutch. Additionally, blackouts have been imposed in 12 border villages under the jurisdiction of Vav, Suigam, and Mavsari police stations in Banaskantha, as well as in the Santalpur area of Patan.
In the latest development, Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi reached the State Emergency Centre to monitor and review the security situation, accompanied by Police Chief Vikas Sahay, Chief Secretary Pankaj Joshi, and Additional Chief Secretary of the Revenue Department Jayanti Ravi.
Earlier this evening, a Pakistani drone was neutralised near Sir Creek in Gujarat, foiling Pakistan’s attempt to infiltrate the western coastal front of the country. This was the second such drone attack by Pakistani forces in the Gujarat region, with another drone intercepted by India’s air defence systems earlier this morning.
The Ministry of Defence, in an official statement, said, “On the night of 07-08 May 2025, Pakistan attempted to engage a number of military targets in Northern and Western India, including Awantipora, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj, using drones and missiles. These were neutralised by the Integrated Counter-UAS Grid and Air Defence systems.”
In the aftermath of the precision strikes carried out by India on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir, Pakistan has escalated its attacks on India’s border states, including Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Jammu & Kashmir. It is learnt that Pakistan fired eight missiles targeting the Jammu Civil Airport, Satwari, Samba, RS Pura, and Arnia — all of which were intercepted and destroyed by Indian air defence units this evening. The Indian Armed Forces have also reportedly shot down two Pakistani JF-17 fighter jets. Drones were also intercepted and shot down in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.
A total blackout has been imposed in Bikaner in Rajasthan, and in Jalandhar and Amritsar in Punjab. Similar blackouts have also been implemented in Kishtwar, Akhnoor, Samba, and Jammu in Jammu & Kashmir. — DeshGujarat
