CR Patil resolves to not accept bouquet, mementos as welcome until Pahalgam attack is avenged

Surat: Union Minister for Jal Shakti, CR Patil, today refused to accept flowers, mementos, or any other symbols of welcome during a public event in the city. He stated that until India avenges the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, he will not accept any honors, including bouquets or mementos, on stage at any event.
Patil was attending the 7th Global Investor Conference being held in Surat. The organizers, mindful of his time, invited him to deliver his speech immediately upon arrival. After his address, when they attempted to welcome him with a bouquet and memento, Patil firmly declined. He said, “Until India avenges the Pahalgam attack, I will not accept any bouquets.” When the organizers insisted on presenting a memento, Patil explained that mementos also count as a form of welcome, and he would not accept those either. Instead, he offered to take photographs with them, and the organizers enthusiastically agreed.
Patil remained focused on his commitment to water-related development and continued engaging with investors, including Sanjay Dangi, who holds a portfolio worth ₹25,000 crore. Patil discussed water project initiatives for Dangi’s home district, Bhilwara, and emphasized that water is essential for sustaining markets. He encouraged Dangi to contribute to the sector.
While informally discussing water projects with businessmen, one of them jokingly said, “Sir, if you take all the investment, what will be left for us?” To this, Patil responded, “Without water, your markets won’t thrive. Water cannot be made in factories; only natural water can be preserved.”
It’s worth mentioning that Patil also refrains from wearing floral garlands at public events. Ahead of the 2022 Gujarat Assembly elections, he vowed not to wear a garland until the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) wins all 182 seats. He has urged BJP workers to fulfill this goal, even if he is not present. Patil believes the word “garland” signifies defeat, and he prefers not to accept it. DeshGujarat
