More Illegal Encroachments Razed Near Chandola Lake in Ahmedabad
May 01, 2025
Ahmedabad: In a joint operation today, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and local police demolished illegal encroachments on government land near Chandola Lake in Danilimda. The cleared site included a commercial warehouse spanning around 1,000 square meters and 25 makeshift shops dealing in old furniture near Ghodasar Master Station and Siddheshwar Mahadev Temple. Approximately 1,200 square meters of public land was freed during the drive.
The action follows a police report highlighting that Bangladeshi nationals were illegally occupying land in the Chandola Lake area and were allegedly involved in other unlawful activities. Authorities had earlier conducted similar encroachment removal operations on April 29 and 30. Meanwhile, work is ongoing to dismantle illegally constructed embankments inside Chandola Lake using two Hitachi machines, the civic body said in a press release. DeshGujarat
