70 illegal Bangladeshis living in Chandola found without documents, 100 with fake Indian documents

Ahmedabad: In a major crackdown on illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, Ahmedabad police have apprehended over 890 individuals from Chandola Talav and other areas of the city. The police are currently verifying their credentials, and during the investigation, it was revealed that around 70 of the detained Bangladeshi nationals did not possess valid Indian documents. Furthermore, more than 100 Bangladeshis were found to have forged Indian documents, including Aadhaar cards, Election cards, PAN cards, and passports. The Ahmedabad Crime Branch and local police are now working to verify the credentials of approximately 700 individuals, who are expected to face deportation to Bangladesh.

This operation, being carried out across Gujarat, comes in the wake of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir. Following the detention of approximately 130 Bangladeshis in Surat city on Saturday, the rural district police have intensified their efforts. Police teams from Kim, Kosamba, Kamrej, Olpad, Mandvi, Palsana, and Bardoli regions conducted a coordinated operation, detaining 239 suspicious Bangladeshis in a single night.

Further action has also been taken in Kutch, where six Bangladeshi women working at spas in Methpar Borich (Anjar Taluka) and Gandhidham (Black Rose Relax Spa) were detained. These women were found to be in possession of fake Aadhaar and Election cards.

In addition, in Rajkot, two more Bangladeshi nationals were apprehended on Sunday, following the arrest of 10 others on Saturday. In Gir Somnath, police conducted checks on the documents of 162 individuals from Bengal. In Porbandar, authorities carried out checks at the port, fishing boats, and riot-prone areas, questioning 20 suspicious individuals without proper identification. In Morbi, 400 Bengali workers were interrogated, while police in Jamnagar conducted checks in local migrant settlements.

The police continue their efforts to ensure the verification of all suspects and to ensure that illegal immigrants are deported to their home country. DeshGujaart
