Kandla to have Hydrogen Refueling Station for Green Hydrogen Mobility Project by NTPC

Kandla: NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NREL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has issued an Invitation for Bids (IFB) for the construction of a Hydrogen Refueling Station as part of the Green Hydrogen Mobility Project in Kandla, Gujarat. The bidding document reference number is RE-CS-H2-GUJRAT-001, with the first stage of bids, including both techno-commercial and price bids, due for submission.

The scope of work for the Hydrogen Refueling Station at Kandla, Gujarat, involves a comprehensive, turnkey project. The selected bidder will be responsible for the design, engineering, supply, construction, erection, testing, and commissioning of the station, including civil and architectural works, along with 20 years of operation and maintenance (O&M) of all systems. Key components of the project include the integration of an 18 kg/hr electrolyser system, hydrogen compression to a pressure of 500 bar, and storage of 420 kg of hydrogen in H2 cylinder cascades. Additionally, the bidder will handle the installation of a hydrogen dispenser system for Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEVs), a nitrogen generation system, and a gas chromatograph for hydrogen gas testing.

Further responsibilities include setting up firefighting facilities, a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) of 80 kW / 600 kWh, a hydrogen fuel cell for emergency power, solar rooftops, and vertical wind turbines. The bidder will also complete civil and electrical works, integrate systems such as the HT System, H2 generation, compression, storage, and dispenser systems, and implement a Unified Integrated Control System (ICS). Safety studies like HAZOP, SIL, HIRA, and QRA are also required, along with setting up Wi-Fi, a guest house, an automatic bus cleaning station, and Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) and Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) systems for the entire plant.

Bidders must submit their queries by April 3, 2025, with the last date for submission of bids scheduled for April 15, 2025, at 14:30 IST.
