Sanand: Three people lost their lives when their car plunged into a canal near Sanand town, while two others managed to escape safely.

The accident occurred around 11:30 pm on Sunday near Virochannagar village as the group was returning to their native Zundal village after visiting the Meldi Mata temple in Sanand taluka. The driver lost control of the steering, causing the Creta car to plunge into a water-filled canal.

In the accident, three members of the same family lost their lives, while two others survived with minor injuries. Upon receiving information about the incident, an emergency 108 team rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to a hospital in Sanand for treatment. The Sanand GIDC police station has launched an investigation into the tragic accident.

Kanubhai Desai, Darshan Desai, and Vishal Desai, who were seated in the rear, drowned after the vehicle fell into the canal. The driver and a front-seat passenger managed to exit the car in time and reached the canal bank.

An accidental death report (ADR) has been filed at Sanand GIDC police station, and an investigation is ongoing. DeshGujarat
