Massive fire breaks out at KBZ Food factory in Rajkot

Rajkot: A massive fire broke out at the factory of KBZ Food India Private Limited near Nakrawadi village, Rajkot, this morning, triggering panic in the area. The fire started around 9 AM, prompting an immediate response from the fire department. Initially, one fire engine was dispatched, but as the blaze intensified, four more were called in. Over 50 firefighters are currently working to control the fire using water jets. While no casualties have been reported so far, the factory has suffered significant damage. Thick smoke from the fire was visible up to five kilometers away.

Satyajit Zala, HR Manager at KBZ Food Limited, stated that he was informed about the fire around 9:15 AM and immediately alerted the fire department. “I arrived at the site along with fire engines. Since the factory deals with wafers and namkeen, the presence of flammable materials led to the rapid spread of the fire. The cause of the fire is still unknown. Thankfully, all 200-250 workers were evacuated safely,” he added.

Rajkot Taluka Mamlatdar K.S. Makwana confirmed that no human casualties have been reported. “The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined, but initial reports suggest it may have spread from a boiler. Investigations regarding the company’s fire NOC (No Objection Certificate) are yet to be conducted, as the priority remains controlling the fire,” he said.

In-charge Chief Fire Officer Ashoksinh Zala said that they received the fire alert at 9:25 AM and dispatched an initial response team. “As the fire escalated, we deployed additional teams, totaling five fire engines at the site. Three teams are actively engaged in firefighting, and two more are on the way. The situation is expected to be brought under control soon,” he said.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation, and efforts are underway to bring the fire under complete control. DeshGujarat
