Kalol Man Deported from US After Illegal Entry Using Fake Passport and Muslim Identity

Mahesana: A 31-year-old Indian man from Kalol, Gujarat, has been deported from the United States after illegally entering the country using a fake passport and assuming a Muslim identity. Jignesh Jagdishbhai Patel, who initially traveled to Canada before crossing the border into the US, was apprehended by immigration authorities within a month of his arrival.

Patel’s case highlights the lengths to which individuals go in their pursuit of the “American Dream,” often resorting to illegal means and spending large sums of money. According to reports, Patel paid agents a staggering 50 lakh rupees (approximately $60,000 USD) to facilitate his illegal entry.

To execute his plan, Patel obtained a fake passport under the name “Wasim Khalil,” falsely identifying himself as a Muslim. He then flew to Canada on February 3rd, where he was assisted by another agent to cross the border into the United States.

However, his stay in the US was short-lived. Amidst heightened scrutiny of illegal immigrants, Patel was caught by immigration officials and deported from Panama to Delhi. Upon his arrival in Ahmedabad from Delhi, he was interrogated by immigration authorities.

Initially, Patel attempted to mislead officials by claiming his passport had been lost. However, during rigorous questioning, he confessed to his true identity and admitted to using a fake passport with a Muslim name to enter the US illegally.

The immigration department has filed a complaint with the airport police, who have arrested Patel. The case has been transferred to the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Police for further investigation.

During initial questioning, Patel revealed that he spent 50 lakh rupees with the help of agents to enter the US illegally. The SOG is now conducting a thorough investigation to identify the agents involved in providing the fake passport and assisting Patel’s journey to Canada and the US. Authorities are also considering seeking his remand for further questioning.

This incident comes amidst a wave of deportations of illegal immigrants from the US, including many Indian citizens. Just recently, two flights carrying over 70 Gujarati nationals returned to India after being deported.

The case of Jignesh Patel serves as a stark reminder of the risks and consequences associated with illegal immigration, and the ongoing efforts by authorities to crack down on such activities.
