CR Patil meets Shivshakti Textile Market traders; Surat BJP contributes ₹11 lakh to relief fund

Surat: Union Jal Shakti Minister and Gujarat BJP President C.R. Patil today visited the Shivshakti Textile Market in the city, which was gutted in a massive fire accident. The fire, which was brought under control after a 32-hour firefighting operation, left over 500 out of the 800 shops completely reduced to ashes.
Patil also announced assistance for the affected traders. He stated that the BJP would contribute ₹11 lakh to the relief fund and presented a cheque for the amount to be submitted to the relief fund set up by the Federation of Surat Textile Traders Association (FOSTA). Notably, FOSTA has formed a relief fund committee to aid traders facing financial losses due to the fire. A delegation of five FOSTA members will meet the Chief Minister to present their case. People can contribute to the fund with donations ranging from ₹5,000 to several lakh rupees.
After visiting the site, C.R. Patil assured that a proposal for additional government assistance would be submitted. He also stated that efforts would be made to provide further relief through state and central government schemes. DeshGujarat
