Somnath Mandir to stay open for 40 hours on Mahashivratri; 2 lakh devotees expected

Prabhas Patan: The Somnath Mandir is set to witness a significant increase in footfall on Mahashivratri, which falls on February 26. According to sources linked with Shree Somnath Trust, over two lakh devotees are expected to visit the temple within 48 hours, starting from 6 AM on Wednesday.

The temple’s daily footfall, usually around 25,000 to 30,000 visitors, is also expected to rise, as Mahashivratri coincides with the final Shahi Snan of Mahakumbh at Prayagraj, marking the official conclusion of the event.

Temple trustee PK Laheri told the media that special measures have been implemented for visitor safety and convenience. “We have strengthened security by deploying additional police personnel for efficient crowd management. Adequate waiting and resting areas have been arranged. Given the anticipated rush, the temple will remain open from 6 AM on Wednesday until 10 PM the next day,” he stated.

Gir Somnath Collector DD Jadeja assured that both the temple trust and local authorities have made all necessary arrangements to accommodate devotees and visitors smoothly. DeshGujarat
