Customs nab 2 at Ahmedabad Airport with smuggled gold worth ₹81.30 lakh

Ahmedabad: Foiling yet another gold smuggling attempt for the third day in a row, the Customs Department at Ahmedabad Airport apprehended two passengers, including a 60-year-old woman on Monday.
In the first case, a 60-year-old woman originally from Rajasthan arrived at SVPI Airport on an IndiGo flight from Jeddah. Finding her behavior suspicious, Customs officials inspected her and discovered that she was hiding 674 grams of chemically mixed gold paste in her undergarment. The Customs Department seized the gold, valued at around ₹59 lakh. Meanwhile, another passenger from Ahmedabad, who arrived on the same flight, was caught carrying a gold chain, ring, and bangle weighing 277 grams, worth ₹22.30 lakh.
