Dolvan: A TDO in the Tapi district of Gujarat has been arrested in a bribery sting operation conducted by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). Virendrasinh Natvarsinh Dodiya, the Taluka Development Officer (TDO) for Dolvan, was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of ₹12,000.
The complainant, a local resident, had completed construction work for a public toilet under the Pradhan Mantri Aadi Adarsh Yojana (Prime Minister’s Ideal Village Scheme) and a water project under the “Aapno Taluko Vibrant Taluko” (Our Taluka, Vibrant Taluka) scheme. The total bill for the work amounted to ₹6,00,000.
Dodiya allegedly demanded ₹12,000 from the complainant to sign and approve the bill. Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the ACB and filed a complaint.
The ACB laid a trap and caught Dodiya accepting the bribe in his office at the Taluka Panchayat in Dolvan. The entire amount of the bribe was recovered from Dodiya.
The operation was led by Police Inspector S.H. Chaudhary of the Tapi ACB Police Station, Vyara, and supervised by Assistant Director R.R. Chaudhary of the ACB Surat Unit. DeshGujarat
