February 06, 2025
Kandla: Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), which manages Kandla Port, is partnering with Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL), India’s largest shipbuilding and ship-repair company, to establish a ship-repair hub in Gujarat. The project, valued at ₹1,750 crore, will involve the construction of a new facility at Vadinar in the Devbhumi Dwarka district.
DPA Chairman, Sushil Kumar Singh, stated that DPA will invest ₹700 crore in developing an outfitting jetty and civil construction at Vadinar, while CSL will invest ₹1,050 crore to install two floating docks. About 50% of DPA’s investment will be funded through the Sagarmala scheme, he said, as per a report.
Under the new agreement, CSL will handle repair activities at the Vadinar facility, paying fixed lease rent and royalties to DPA. This facility is expected to repair up to 32 vessels annually. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) has already been submitted to the Union Ministry for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways for further approval. DeshGujarat
