2 held at Ahmedabad Airport for smuggling gold and marijuana

Ahmedabad: Two individuals were nabbed at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport for attempting to smuggle gold and drugs into the country in separate incidents.
In the first incident, a male passenger arriving from Dubai on SpiceJet flight SG-16 was intercepted based on specific intelligence. Upon inspection, officers of the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of Ahmedabad Customs found two capsules hidden in his body containing gold mixed with chemicals in paste form. The recovered gold, weighing 660.960 grams and with 24-karat purity, is valued at ₹53.26 lakh. The man was taken into custody.
Meanwhile, in another case, a female passenger traveling from Bangkok on Thai Airways flight TG-343 was arrested for carrying 2.3 kg of hydroponic weed, commonly known as marijuana.
