Surat: After the incident of fire in which four laborers were dead, the Industrial Safety and Health Department has served closure notice to Hazira-based AM/NS company’s Corex-2 plant. The plant will remain shut till sufficient steps are taken for safety.
The district collector’s office has ordered a probe into the incident and assigned the task to the deputy collector of the Olpad prant. The report is expected to be handed over to the district collector in a couple of days.
Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) has also sent a prima facie report to its head office.
It’s worth noting that victim laborers died burnt in 2000-degree heat, and their dead bodies were found in the worst possible situation.
In another development, on Wednesday, officials from the forensic science laboratory, the factory inspector, and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4) Vijay Singh Gurjar visited the accident site to collect DNA samples of the victims.
The victims, identified as contractual laborers Jignesh Dilipkumar, Dhaval Nareshbhai, Patel Sandeepkumar Ashokbhai, and Ganesh Suraj Budh, died in the incident. However, due to the severe charring of the bodies, DNA testing is required to confirm their identities.
