Vadodara: Maharaja Sayajirao University (MS University) Vadodara’s annual convocation will be held every year on the 5th of September from the year 2025 onwards. This announcement was made today by the Vice Chancellor Dr. Vijay Shrivastava in his address during the 73rd convocation ceremony. He said 5 September is Teachers Day, and every year the convocation function will be held on this fixed date so that the students who apply for further studies or want to go abroad may not face any issue. He said the students will no more need to enquire about the convocation date, as it will take place every year on September 5 only. 

It’s worth noting that the vice chancellor faced a lot of criticism and also an agitation by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) this year, as he was seen as indecisive regarding the convocation date. Usually, convocation would take place in September, but he delayed it through September, October, November, and December for want of confirmation from some undisclosed dignitary he wanted here as the chief guest. It was after the ultimatum was given by ABVP and the intervention by the Lok Sabha member, who confirmed the presence of the Vice President of India. However, due to the passing away of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and national mourning, the vice president couldn’t attend the function. 

The university’s chancellor, Shubhangini Devi Gaekwad, presented gold medals and degrees to the successful students. She, in her address, said that this was the second occasion when the chancellor delivered the convocation address. The earlier occasion was 1976. DeshGujarat
