Light Rain in Ahmedabad disrupts ongoing Kankariya Carnival

Ahmedabad: Light rain disrupted the ongoing Kankariya Carnival 2024 celebrations at Kankariya Lakefront on Thursday evening. The stage performances were set to begin on Day 2 of the carnival when the unexpected rainfall occurred. Many people, who had arrived with enthusiasm to attend the event, began leaving due to the sudden showers, which were surprising for most, considering it is winter season and the last week of the calendar year.

Technicians and organizers rushed to protect the electronics and digital equipment from the rain. The week-long festival, which was inaugurated yesterday by the Chief Minister, is organized by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC). The carnival has been an annual event since the time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat. During his tenure, Modi was the MLA of the Maninagar constituency, where Kankariya Lake is located.

The central government’s weather arm, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), had predicted unseasonal showers in parts of Gujarat and has further issued a forecast for more rainfall and hailstorms in parts of the state on Friday. DeshGujarat
