MSU Convocation 2024 likely on Dec 29; VP Dhankhar expected to be Chief Guest
December 21, 2024
Vadodara: The long-awaited convocation ceremony at Maharaja Sayajirao University of Vadodara is likely to take place on December 29. Vadodara MP Dr. Hemang Joshi has invited Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar to attend the event as the chief guest.
Regarding the date and invitation, Dr. Hemang Joshi told the media, “The official date of the convocation will only be announced by MS University, but I have officially invited the respected Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar as the chief guest, and the confirmation from his office is likely to come by Monday. We hope that the Vice President will be the guest of Vadodara.”
It is noteworthy that last week, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged a dharna outside the university’s head office to protest the indecisiveness and inaction of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Vijaykumar Srivastav over the ongoing delay in the announcement of the convocation ceremony.
The delay stemmed from the Vice Chancellor’s extended wait for an unnamed dignitary to serve as the chief guest for the convocation. Frustrated by the Vice Chancellor’s refusal to expedite a response from the invited dignitary or to explore alternative options, ABVP members held a peaceful protest at the university’s head office, chanting Ram Dhun and demanding immediate action from the Vice Chancellor’s office.
Typically held before the end of September, the convocation ceremony will now take place on December 29. On another note, the father of an MBBS graduate has taken the matter to the Gujarat High Court after his daughter faced difficulties securing admission to a foreign university due to the lack of her formal degree certificate. The concerned parent has reached out to various authorities, including the college dean, faculty dean, registrar, and Vice Chancellor, as well as higher officials in Delhi and Gandhinagar, in an effort to resolve the issue. Thousands of students are still waiting for their delayed convocation to receive their degrees. DeshGujarat
