Ahmedabad: Health Minister Rushikesh Patel chaired a review meeting on Thursday to assess the progress of the master plan for Medicity, a healthcare hub centred around Ahmedabad Civil Hospital.

According to hospital officials, bids have been invited for the construction of a new 1,800-bed hospital costing Rs 588 crore, equipped with OPD, IPD, and ICU facilities. The master plan also includes the expansion of existing facilities, with a total budget of Rs 840 crore allocated for the projects.

Highlighting the project, Patel stated that construction at Medicity is nearing completion and emphasised that the medical and super-specialist services offered will set benchmarks for hospitals across Gujarat and India. He added that the availability of advanced super-specialist services is also boosting medical tourism in Gujarat.

Key discussions during the review included plans to enhance the signage system, introduce multi-level parking, add two additional entrance gates, and develop the Mental Hospital Compound and Maniben Hospital Campus. The campus is also set to upgrade its hostel capacity to accommodate 1,200 students while further enhancing facilities for cancer and heart care hospitals. DeshGujarat
