Brother of Notorious land mafia Jayesh Ranpariya booked in Jamnagar

Jamnagar: The local police have filed a complaint against Dharmesh Ranpariya, the brother of notorious land mafia Jayesh Patel (Ranpariya). Dharmesh has been booked after a trader attempted suicide by ingesting poison. Dharmesh is accused of extorting interest. It is alleged that the trader had already paid Rs. 15.20 lakh for an Rs. 8 lakh loan, but Dharmesh allegedly tried to extort an additional Rs. 30 lakh and issued threats, resulting in a police complaint.

The trader, identified as Ghanshyambhai Jamnabhai Chovtiya (42), residing in the Satellite Park area on Ranjitsagar Road, had taken a loan of Rs. 8 lakh at 10% interest from Dharmesh Ranpariya around 1.5 years ago. After paying Rs. 7.20 lakh in interest and Rs. 8 lakh in principal, totalling Rs. 15.20 lakh, the trader sold his house in Mayur Township through Ramesh Gorsiya.

There was a dispute over a bank loan of Rs. 23.31 lakh for the house, which Dharmesh Ranpariya allegedly resolved by taking six blank cheques and Rs. 6 lakh in cash from the trader. However, Dharmesh demanded an additional Rs. 30 lakh in interest and threatened to kill the trader. Frustrated, Chovtiya attempted suicide by consuming poison last week. He was rushed to G.G. Hospital for treatment and is now in stable condition. The police have filed a complaint against Dharmesh Ranpariya, and an investigation is underway.

Notorious land mafia Jayesh Patel is currently in jail in London. He is booked in over 40 criminal cases in Gujarat, including the murder case of advocate Kirit Joshi in Jamnagar in 2018. Last year, a court in London granted permission for Patel’s extradition to India. DeshGujarat
