Meshana: In a strange chain of events, a 33-year-old man from Vijapur, who was thought to be dead and cremated by his family, returned home after his “besana” (memorial service).
This bizarre story involves Brijesh Suthar, a resident of Prabhunagar Society in Vijapur, Mehsana. Brijesh had left home on October 27th, without informing his family. He had been investing in the stock market in Ahmedabad and had been under considerable stress for the past few days. His family reported him missing at the Naroda police station.
Meanwhile, the Sabarmati police found the body of a young man. They identified the body as that of the missing Brijesh (alias Pintu Suthar) and informed his family and handed over the body to them for the last rites. Brijesh was cremated by his family on November 10. However, four days later, on November 14, the day of his “besana” (memorial service), Brijesh returned to his home, much to the shock and joy of his family. The family, still in disbelief, wondered who had been cremated in his place.
The police have now launched an investigation to determine whose last rites were actually performed. The body found near the bridge was that of an unidentified man, and the police are working to trace the family and relatives of the deceased. DeshGujarat
