Ahmedabad: British band Coldplay has added another show to their India tour, which is set to be their biggest show ever. The band will arrive in India this January, where they will first perform three shows in Mumbai before heading to Ahmedabad, where they are expected to perform in front of over 1 lakh people at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera.

In a tweet on Wednesday, the band shared, “The band will play their biggest-ever show at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on 25 January, 2025. Tickets on sale Saturday, 16 November at 12pm IST. Delivered by DHL.”

Tickets for this show will go live on BookMyShow’s website on November 16th (Saturday). The price range for tickets at the world’s largest cricket stadium, which can accommodate over 1 lakh people, starts from ₹2,500 and goes up to ₹12,500. The tickets for standing floor space in front of the stage will be priced at ₹6,450. It’s important to note that users will be allowed to book a maximum of four tickets per transaction.

The ticket booking process will feature a virtual queue with a waiting room, where fans will be allocated queue positions through an automated queue randomisation system, when the sale goes live, an official statement said.

The statement further states, “The band will also make a limited number of Infinity Tickets available for the shows at 12pm local time on Friday, 22 November via BookMyShow. They will cost the local currency equivalent of €20 per ticket and must be bought in pairs.”

This announcement by the Grammy award-winning band offers fans a second chance to secure tickets, as the ticket sale for the Mumbai shows at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on January 18, 19, and 20, 2025, had left millions in a frenzy. Tickets for these shows went on sale last month but sold out almost instantly, with virtual queues reaching millions, leaving many hopeful ticket buyers empty-handed.

Some scalpers took advantage of the situation by hoarding tickets to resell them at inflated prices, prompting authorities to intervene. The Maharashtra police’s cyber wing had also issued a notice to online ticketing platform BookMyShow, asking it to implement stricter measures, including the sale of name-based tickets for Coldplay’s Mumbai concerts and other events.
