September 12, 2024
Palanpur: Palanpur in Banaskantha has received a flyover, which is the second such bridge in India and the first of its kind in the state of Gujarat. A three-leg elevated bridge has been constructed at the RTO circle in Palanpur, bringing significant relief to motorists traveling to Ambaji from Ahmedabad.
Vehicles traveling from Abu Road to Ambaji and those going from Palanpur to Ambaji will use this bridge. Previously, heavy traffic jams often occurred due to the nearby railway crossing. However, following the launch of this bridge, motorists will experience relief from traffic congestion.
This bridge has been constructed at the railway crossing on National Highway 58 and National Highway 27 in Palanpur. The decision to build the bridge was made due to traffic congestion on these two national highways.
₹89 crore has been spent on the construction of the newly built three-leg bridge in Palanpur city. This is Gujarat’s first three-leg elevated bridge on pillars. A similar three-leg elevated bridge was first constructed in Chennai. Special features of this bridge include the use of 16,000 metric tons of cement and 3,600 metric tons of iron. A 1,700-meter-long leg has been built towards Palanpur and Abu Road, while two lanes have been constructed towards Palanpur and Abu Road, along with a four-lane leg towards Ambaji. The entire bridge stands on 79 pillars, with a circular self-point measuring 84 meters in circumference. A total of 180 girders made of concrete and 32 girders made of steel have been installed in this bridge. The height of the bridge, including the parapet, is 17 meters. DeshGujarat
