Vadodara: Minister of State for Home Affairs, Harsh Sanghvi, today visited Vadodara city and held a review meeting with MPs, MLAs, and officials engaged in relief operations at the district collector’s office. Sanghvi also held a review meeting with representatives of Insurance companies, who were asked to assist the public with a human approach.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Sanghvi stated that a review was conducted regarding the assistance provided in sanitation, health, Cashdol, and household cleaning, with elected representatives and officials involved in flood relief work in Vadodara district. Cashdol has been distributed to 64,360 families in the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) area and to 20,610 families in rural Vadodara, totaling 84,970 families in the district as of 8 AM today. Additionally, household assistance has been provided to 5,835 families in Vadodara and 3,933 in rural Vadodara, making a total of 9,768 families.
He also stated, “Elected representatives and officials have been asked to promptly inform the nodal officer at the collector’s office about any demands or complaints from the public. A team will be dispatched to assist with issues related to housebreaking or Cashdol arrangements. The agricultural survey work commenced this morning, and 99% of electricity restoration has been completed. If there are any complaints, a new team has been formed to expedite the work.”
He noted that a second-phase meeting was held with insurance companies, with directives given to ensure that residents are not harassed by paperwork, allowing more individuals to receive assistance on humanitarian grounds. Insurance companies conducted operations on weekends. Approximately 850 claims have been made with four government insurance companies, and around 650 claims have been submitted to private companies. Notifications for the immediate processing of all claims have been issued, and surveyors are meeting with these companies today.
Sanghvi further mentioned that representatives have been called to Gandhinagar tomorrow to expedite the Vishwamitri project.
He concluded, “I will meet with the zonal in charge of the insurance company today and return to Vadodara in two to three days to review these matters. Citizens will also have the opportunity to present their concerns during this time.” DeshGujarat
