2 lions saved on Pipavav-Rajula rail track as loco pilots apply brakes
August 20, 2024
Bhavnagar: Two alert loco pilots of a goods train passing through Amreli saved the lives of two lions that had strayed onto the railway track on the Pipavav-Rajula section early Monday morning.
The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. when loco pilot Vivek Verma and assistant loco pilot Rahul Solanki, while passing through the Pipavav-Rajula section, were alerted to the lions’ presence on the tracks by two forest department ‘trackers.’ Upon seeing the red signal from the trackers, the pilots applied the brakes and halted the train. The train only resumed its journey once the lions had moved away.
It is noteworthy that since April 2024, 42 lions, plus these two, have been saved by alert loco pilots in the Bhavnagar railway division. DeshGujarat
