Stalled and long pending flyover construction work; Locals block Ahmedabad – Himmatnagar highway

Sabarkantha: Local residents have blocked the Prantij Highway, causing a traffic jam on the road. Residents of Navdhara and New Patel Colony are protesting the diversion onto the service road. They have complained that due to the incomplete bridge work, the diversion onto the service road generates a lot of dust when vehicles pass by, as the road is in poor condition. The dust particles have caused four children in the community to fall ill, which has angered the locals.
There have been several instances of traffic jams on the Ahmedabad-Himmatnagar highway, and despite numerous complaints to authorities, no solution has been implemented. The residents are now protesting on the road and have warned that further agitation will occur if the issue is not resolved.
One resident said, “When we complain, they resurface the upper level of the road, but when vehicles pass by, a lot of dust is generated. We request that the necessary measures be taken.”
Another resident said, “This issue has been pending for the last two years. Now, four children have fallen ill, and when we took them to the health center, the doctor said it was due to the dust. We have been requesting a solution for the past year.”
