Gujarat Gas imposes Re. 1 per kg CNG price on lakhs of its customers
August 01, 2024
Surat: Gujarat government owned Gujarat Gas Ltd., which functions under the GSPC (Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation) group, has increased the CNG price by Re. 1. This is the second rate hike imposed by GSPC for the second time in the last 25 days. The customers need to pay Rs. 76.25 per kg instead of 75.26 from today across Gujarat.
The increase is despite the fact that natural gas prices have dropped by 11.1 percent in last one year in the international market. The hike will affect 4.21 lakh CNG vehicle owners only in South Gujarat, including Surat. Gujarat Gas has earned Rs. 409 crore profit in the quarter of March 2024, over 25 percent more compared to profit in the previous quarter.
Surat based Congress leader Darshan Nayak has alleged that instead of easing the price, Gujarat Gas is imposing successive hikes on the customers and looting them. As per the data announced by the Federation of Gujarat Petroleum Dealers Association, Gujarat has 12 lakh CNG vehicles, including 4 lakh CNG autorickshaws and 6 lakh four wheelers. DeshGujarat
