King and Prime Minister of Bhutan relish Surti Undhiyu, Khaman Dhokla, Mohanthal

Gandhinagar: Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay are currently on a three-day visit to Gujarat. After visiting the Statue of Unity at Ektanagar, they arrived in Ahmedabad on Monday. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel welcomed the Bhutanese dignitaries at Ahmedabad Airport. Following a traditional Garba and Dhol welcome, the Chief Minister hosted a dinner in their honor at The Leela Hotel, Gandhinagar where these guests enjoyed a range of delectable Gujarati dishes.

Special delicacies were prepared for the delegation. The guests enjoyed Gujarati favorites such as Khaman Dhokla, Surti Undhiyu, and Thepla, along with continental dishes. They were served watermelon and orange juice as welcome drinks, along with soups and appetizers like tandoori rumani paneer, sabz aur mawa ki galoti, and Mexican jalapeno and pepper roulade. The starters included Dahi Bhalla, Khaman Dhokla, Bajri and Asparagus Salad, and Middle Eastern Fattoosh. The main course featured Paneer Tomato Ka Koot, Surti Undhiyu, Vegetable Lasagna, Dry Nuts and Spiced Red Rice Pilaf, Steamed Jeera Rice, Dal Makhni, Naan, Thepla, and Paratha. For dessert, they enjoyed Mohanthal, Angoor Basundi, and Caramel Chocolate Cake.

During the dinner meeting, the Chief Minister and the Bhutanese royals discussed strengthening commercial and cultural relations between Gujarat and Bhutan.
