Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government has mandated that government school teachers will have to declare their movable and immovable property. This decision affects more than two and a half lakh teachers in primary, secondary, and higher secondary schools across the state. The Primary Education Regulatory Office has sent a circular to enforce this decision in all districts.

The circular requires every government school teacher to declare their property according to the Panchayat Service Conduct Rules. This includes property owned by inheritance or acquired during their service tenure. Teachers and principals will have to declare these details annually, including properties in their own names and those of family members.

The education department will create software for teachers to upload their property details every year. This initiative targets employees in Panchayat Service Class-3, ensuring transparency.

Officials highlighted that this is the first time such a process is being implemented. Previously, the government had not made any effort to publicly disclose the property details of teachers.
