SMC to run 4 buses to Surat Diamond Bourse from Varachha and Katargam
July 05, 2024
Surat: The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) will be running four additional buses to the Surat Diamond Bourse (SDB) located in the Khajod area. These buses will commence operation from Ashadi Beej on July 7th, running from Varachha and Katargam to the SDB.
The administrators of the Diamond Bourse are working to make the SDB thrive, and this decision from the SMC aims to support these efforts.
Deputy Commissioner Rajendra Kumar stated that it is in everyone’s interest to make the Diamond Bourse operational. He mentioned that they were considering ways to quickly create business opportunities and make it easier for jewelers to conduct their business there. Consequently, four buses will be arranged for the jewelers. The pickup stations will be decided based on the convenience of the jewelers, ensuring that those in Katargam and Varachha can reach the Surat Diamond Bourse directly and quickly.
It is noteworthy that the SDB is located in the Khajod area on the outskirts of the city, while the main diamond businesses are situated in the Varachha and Katargam areas. This has made it difficult for jewelers to travel to the Diamond Bourse. The cost of traveling to Khajod is also high, with the distance being over 15 km from both areas. Keeping all this in mind, the SMC will run four buses starting from July 7th. DeshGujarat
