June 28, 2024
Ahmedabad: The national capital was lashed with heavy rain today, leading to the collapse of the canopy of Terminal-1 at IGI Airport, resulting in one death and eight injuries. The accident and the inclement weather have affected air travel in Ahmedabad, causing the cancellation of two flights between the cities and delays for other flights.
The IndiGo flight from Delhi to Ahmedabad, scheduled to arrive at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport at 7:35 am, was delayed by two and a half hours, landing at SVPI at 10:11 am, leaving around 180 passengers stranded at Delhi airport. Meanwhile, another IndiGo flight from IGI Airport to Ahmedabad, scheduled to depart at 9:10 am, was cancelled, resulting in frustration among passengers.
Additionally, Air India’s flight arriving at SVPI at 1 pm will also be delayed, and IndiGo’s flight landing in Ahmedabad at 1:25 pm will face a delay of over half an hour.
On the other hand, IndiGo has cancelled its 11:20 am flight from Ahmedabad to Delhi. As many as 28 flights have been cancelled in Delhi due to heavy rains and gusty winds. DeshGujarat
