Morbi Municipality again issues notice to Swaminarayan Temple to remove illegal construction
June 27, 2024
Morbi: The Morbi Municipality has again issued a notice to the BAPS Swaminarayan Temple administration to remove illegal constructions within two days. The notice is directed to twelve individuals including the temple administration.
Citizens had complained about illegal construction by the BAPS Swaminarayan Temple on the Machchhu riverbank. An investigation by the district collector and other officials confirmed these illegal constructions, which fall under the Morbi municipality’s jurisdiction.
The notice states that the temple will be held responsible for any loss of life due to floods in the Machchhu River during the monsoon. The previous notice to remove the illegal construction was ignored, which prompted the municipality to issue another notice.
The notice highlights that constructions within 30 meters of the waterbody control line are prohibited and pose a major risk. Bharatbhai Bhagwanjibhai Bopalia, the administrator of the BAPS Swaminarayan Temple, stated that their legal team has been informed about the notice. He assured that they will comply with the government regulations as required by law. DeshGujarat
