Jiomart to deliver orders in 30 minutes; Entry in to Quick Commerce likely in June, says report

Mumbai: Reliance Industries is gearing up to enter the quick commerce sector next month through its platform JioMart, a newspaper reported citing sources.
Initially, the service will focus on delivering groceries in 7-8 cities and gradually expand to cover more than 1,000 cities, the report stated. The company plans to deliver the groceries within 30 minutes of the order. However, Reliance Retail has not responded to any questions regarding this.
The report suggested that JioMart might leverage Reliance Retail’s extensive network of stores and fulfillment centers to operate the quick commerce service. This move into quick commerce comes a year after Reliance discontinued its 90-minute grocery delivery service, JioMart Express.
Currently, JioMart provides next-day delivery options to its customers. Reliance’s entry into quick commerce is expected to heighten competition in the sector, where Blinkit, Swiggy, and Zepto currently offer deliveries of groceries and some non-grocery items within 10-15 minutes.
There have also been reports that Flipkart, owned by Walmart, is also gearing up to expand its quick commerce plans.
Quick commerce is already a $5 billion annual sales channel, according to Goldman Sachs. Varun Alagh, co-founder and CEO of Mamaearth, highlighted that quick commerce is growing 4-5 times faster than traditional e-commerce channels. DeshGujarat
