Bikaner: Surat police on Tuesday apprehended 26-year-old Ashok Suthar, also known as Abu Bakar, from Bikaner, Rajasthan, for alleged connections to an individual arrested in Surat for threatening leaders of the Hindu Sanatan Sangh.
Suthar’s detention came after the tracing of a Rajasthan-based phone number frequently contacted by Mohammed Sohel Timol, alias Maulvi, who was arrested in Surat. Bikaner SP Tejashvi Gautam formed a joint interrogation committee with officials from both Gujarat and Rajasthan to question Suthar. The police have seized Suthar’s mobile phone for examination.
According to the police, Suthar, who works at a computer hardware shop in Bikaner, converted to Islam two years ago in Delhi but kept it a secret, even from his wife.
During the primary probe, it was found that he has been in contact with individuals in Pakistan. It has also been revealed that Suthar was in contact with Mohammed Sohel. It is currently difficult to determine Suthar’s involvement, but the police will obtain more information after further interrogation. DeshGujarat
