Ahmedabad: Once again, concerns have been raised about the security of the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera as a spectator breached the boundary and entered the pitch to meet M S Dhoni during the Gujarat Titans vs. Chennai Super Kings IPL match on Friday.
The individual who breached the security has been identified as Jayakumar Bharatbhai Jani from Bhavnagar. Chandkheda police have detained him and booked him under IPC section 447. He claimed to be a fan of Dhoni and admitted to jumping the net to meet him.
Despite the presence of police personnel on duty, a spectator wearing a light yellow T-shirt and black pants breached the boundary and ran onto the pitch during the match. First, he bowed to Dhoni and then hugged him.
This marks the second major security breach, as earlier during the World Cup final in November last year, an Australian national had entered the ground while Virat Kohli was batting. The recurrence of such incidents raises questions about the effectiveness of security measures. DeshGujarat
