April 12, 2024
Narmada: The Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited (SSNNL) has initiated the release of nearly 20,000 cusecs of water into the main canal of the Narmada dam due to the increased demand for water during the summer season.
On Wednesday, SSNNL discharged 21,000 cusecs of water, contrary to the average release of about 10,000 cusecs since the end of March.
Currently, the water level in the Narmada dam stands at 120 meters, with an inflow of around 10,000 cusecs from upstream dams in Madhya Pradesh. The present live storage of the Sardar Sarovar reservoir is at 1,336 Million Cubic Metres (MCM), accounting for 23 percent of the total live storage capacity. Including its dead storage, the dam is approximately 58 percent full. DeshGujarat
