Congress mukt GMC likely after Holi
March 20, 2024
Gandhinagar: The only two Congress Party corporators in the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation (GMC) are expected to join the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). If this move happens, the GMC will not have a single Congress party corporator and will be completely congress-free.
Presently, the GMC comprises a total of 44 councilors, with 41 aligned with the ruling BJP, 2 from Congress, and 1 representing the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Congress corporators Ankit Barot from ward no. 3 and Gajendrasinh Vaghela from ward no. 2 recently met with Gujarat BJP President C R Patil at his residence in the state capital. Sources suggest that both Congress leaders are likely to formally join the BJP after the Holi festival. DeshGujarat
