March 11, 2024
Devbhoomi Dwarka: The district authorities today carried out a demolition drive against unauthorized encroachments on railway-owned land near Salaya Port.
Indian Railways has decided to restart the age-old Khambhaliya-Salaya railway line in Khambhaliya after almost four decades. Accordingly, railway track work has commenced near Khambhalia. However, there was heavy encroachment in the railway line area near the old Salaya railway station in Salaya for years. The authorities had issued notices regarding the illegal occupation of railway land earlier, but after no responses from the encroachers, the administration carried out the demolition today. The illegal structures, including commercial and residential ones, were razed by the authorities in the heavy police presence.
Similar operations have been ongoing for the last few days in several coastal areas of Saurashtra and Kutch. DeshGujarat
