Strike calls in news; Rajkot, Saputara, Bhavnath, Barwala

Gandhinagar: Several strikes are in news today from across Gujarat.

Advocates in Rajkot court are on strike today seeking table allotment and sitting arrangement in the new court complex and allowing photocopy machine for advocates. The advocates said they would also boycott the upcoming Lok Adalat if their concerns are not addressed. Advocates said that the canteen is yet not there on the court campus. A photocopy machine is also not installed.

Gujarat’s only hill station Saputara is on strike today against the transfer of Chief Officer Chintan Vaishnav. Boating, shops, food stalls, and other facilities are closed today in support of the strike. The locals said Vaishnav had done a good job in cleaning this destination and other local development works.

Shopkeepers at Bhavnath in Junagadh have concluded their strike after a meeting with the local MLA and others. The shops were on strike over ban on plastic imposed by the Gujarat High Court.

Traders in Barwala town observed a strike today protesting the doubling of tax which has been increased from Rs. 600 to Rs. 1200 by a local civic body.
