Gujarat govt launches ‘Mission Green Hydrogen’; Inks several MoUs in the sector

Gandhinagar: Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel today launched the Mission Green Hydrogen – Gujarat during the seminar on ‘Gujarat – The Green Hydrogen Destination of India’ at Mahatma Mandir in the state capital.
On the third day of the Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2024, several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed between the state government and entities operating in the green hydrogen sector during the seminar.
The first MoU was signed between the University of California, Berkeley, and the Gujarat government to support research and development activities in the green hydrogen sector. The MoU was exchanged between Dr. David C. Wilson, Dean of UC, Berkeley; Mamta Verma, Principal Secretary; and Arun Mahesh Babu, Managing Director, Gujarat Power Corporation Ltd (GPCL).
The second MoU was signed between Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) and GIFT City and was exchanged between Rajesh K Mediratta, MD & CEO, Indian Gas Exchange (IGX); Sandeep Shah, General Manager & HoD, IFSC & Strategy at GIFT City; and Milind Toravne, MD of GSPC
The third MoU was inked between the central government entity NTPC and GSPC. Gurdeep Singh, CMD of NTPC, and Milind Toravne, MD of GSPC exchanged the documents.
Another MoU was signed between GSPC and GPCL.
During the event, Chief Minister said, “the Government of Gujarat has made a special land policy for green hydrogen’s production and allocated 2 lakh hectare waste land in Kutch and Banaskantha districts for the same.”
He said, the government has allocated Rs. 2 lakh crore budget for next five years for green growth sector. The goevrnment aims to produce 5 million matric tonne green hydrogen by the year 2030. Gujarat will make maximum contribution to this. DeshGujarat
