Porbandar MP Meets Gadkari; Seeks commencement of Rajkot-Jetpur 6-lane project

New Delhi: Lok Sabha MP from Porbandar, Rameshbhai Dhaduk, met with Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways of India, Nitin Gadkari, on Wednesday in national capital regarding the toll fee hike at Godhavi toll plaza, the progress of the Rajkot-Jetpur 6-lane highway, and the construction work of a flyover and service road in his parliamentary constituency.

Providing information about the meeting on social media, the Member of Parliament wrote, “Met with Union Transport Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari ji in Delhi and made a presentation regarding the price hike of Godhavi Tolltax and the speedy commencement of work on the Rajkot-Jetpur Six Lane, along with the construction of a new flyover and service road in the Porbandar constituency.”

It is noteworthy that the conversion of the 70-km Rajkot-Jetpur Road into a 6-lane highway was announced in February 2019 by the then Union Minister of State for Roads & Transport, Mansukh Mandavia. However, in May of this year, it was learned that the reason for the delay was the re-identification of illegal constructions that needed to be demolished for the transformation of the highway into a six-lane road. This was done after some individuals provided evidence of their ownership of the lands to National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) where demolition was going to take place. DeshGujarat
