Khambhat Congress MLA Chirag Patel resigns
December 19, 2023
Anand: Khambhat Congress MLA Chirag Patel has tendered his resignation from the post of Member of Legislative Assembly of Gujarat after meeting the State Assembly Speaker, Shankar Chaudhary, in the state capital today.
Patel is the second MLA to resign from the state assembly within a week. Last week, Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Visavadar, Bhupat Bhayani, had resigned from the assembly.
Chirag Patel (44), a first-time MLA, had won the state assembly election last year by a margin of 3,711 votes against his BJP rival, Maheshkumar Kanaiyalal Raval. With Chirag Patel’s resignation, the 182-seat strong Gujarat Vidhan Sabha is left with 2 vacant seats, for which bypolls will probably take place along with the Lok Sabha general election next year.

On this development, Gujarat Minister Rushikesh Patel said, “Not only MLAs but many workers are also leaving the vision less Congress party to join BJP which is working for nation-building. Our party (BJP) which was born from a particular ideology has never deviated from that ideology since its inception since 1950. This is why in the 21st century we can dream of reclaiming our ‘Vishwaguru’ title and become number one. This is the reason people are joining BJP”
“I do not know who is joining as of now, but our party will welcome whoever wants to take the nation forward while working with our ideology,” he added. DeshGujarat
