Gandhinagar: As part of its vision to double its production capacity to 4 million by 2030-31, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) is preparing to establish its fifth car manufacturing plant, with Gujarat emerging as a potential location, according to sources within the state government.
If everything proceeds as planned, the investment in Gujarat is expected to reach Rs 20,000 crore, providing a significant boost to the automobile industry in the region, according to industry insiders.
Earlier this year, MSIL announced its intention to build a fifth plant in India, focused on producing 10 lakh cars per year. Government sources have verified that MSIL officials are actively in discussions in Gandhinagar to explore the possibilities of establishing this new facility in the state.
A top government source informed about the ongoing discussions regarding the proposed project. The government is yet to receive any final proposal from the company, which aims to establish the new plant in proximity to its existing plant of Suzuki Motors Gujarat (SMG) in Hansalpur. The government has also proposed alternative locations to the company, which include the Mandal-Becharaji Special Investment Region (MBSIR) and Hansalpur. DeshGujarat
