AAP MLA Chaitar Vasava remains at large; Two other accused on remand

Narmada: A district sessions court here on Wednesday remanded AAP MLA Chaitar Vasava’s personal assistant Jitendra and an encroacher, Ramesh Vasava, to three days of police custody. The arrested individuals are accused in a case involving rioting, extortion, and assault of forest officers on November 2. The AAP MLA, who is also a suspect in the case, is currently absconding.

During the hearing of the bail petition for the three arrested individuals, including Chaitar’s wife Shakuntala, the sessions court prioritized the police’s revision petition filed on November 4 after the local court rejected the police remand application on November 3. The court granted three days of police custody for Jitendra and Ramesh, instead of the ten days requested by the police.

Shakuntala, in judicial custody since November 3, was taken to the Rajpipla civil hospital on Tuesday due to chest pain. The police are seeking her remand to investigate alleged extortion and the call detail records of the accused. Once Shakuntala is discharged from the hospital, the police will move the sessions court for her remand.

Meanwhile, a manhunt is underway for Chaitar Vasava, who has been evading arrest since November 2. Narmada SP, Prashant Sumbe mentioned that the police are close to finding him, and there is currently no lookout notice. DeshGujarat
