India – Pakistan cricket worldcup match: Gujarat CM reviews security arrangements

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel today chaired a meeting to review the security arrangements for the India Pakistan cricket match which is to be played at Motera based Narendra Modi cricket stadium on October 14 as part of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup.
It is now known that Pakistan had initially denied to play the match at Ahmedabad due to undisclosed reasons, possibly related to security issues. Over a lakh people are expected to watch this match at world’s largest cricket stadium. Pakistanis had lastly played cricket in Ahmedabad at Navrangpura based Sardar Patel stadium of Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) as part of Zee group promoted ICL (Indian Cricket League) in year 2008 under the title of ‘Lahor Badshah’ team.

Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi along with Principal Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Kailashanathan, Principal Secretary Rajkumar, Additional Chief Secretary Home Department Mukesh Puri, Director General of Police Vikas Sahai Ahmedabad Police Commissioner G.S. Malik and senior police officers participated in the meeting today to discuss the overall security arrangements including the traffic and stadium-side arrangements.
The Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel got details about the security arrangements of Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium as well as the safety of spectators coming to watch the match and traffic regulation in the meeting and gave necessary guidance. DeshGujarat
