Sabarmati: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has once again voiced a demand to restore the original name of the city of Ahmedabad which was Karnavati.

VHP’s national join general secretary Surendra Jain while speaking at a Shaurya Yatra event in the city today said, ‘Invaders can’t be the identity of Gujarat. Ahmedshah was an attacker, a looter and therefore it is not proper to have the name of Gujarat’s main city after him. It is not good and neither does it give a good message.’

He further added that the city’s name should be after Karna who built Karnamukteshwar Mahadev here.

When asked why the saffron government in Gujarat is hesitating to restore the city’s name, Jain replied that if the people start raising their voice in favor of this in unison, anyone in power will need to accept it. DeshGujarat
