June 02, 2023
Gandhinagar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light thunderstorms/rains in Ahmedabad on June 2. Strong surface winds 30-40 KMPH gusting to 50KMPH very likely to prevail over the Gujarat region and Saurashtra-Kutch during the period of June 2 to June 6.
In another development, “a cyclonic circulation is likely to develop over the southeast Arabian Sea around 5th June. Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the same region during the subsequent 48 hours,” said IMD.
According to the press release, various weather models used by the meteorological department are suggesting the possibility of a cyclone forming over the Arabian Sea in the coming week. Among the multiple models, the Global Forecast System (GFS) of the National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) is indicating movement towards the south Gujarat-Maharashtra coast.
Considering guidance from these various models, the probability of cyclogenesis is being kept as nil for the next five days, stated the IMD statement.
According to the IMD bulletin, “Light thunderstorm with lightning and surface wind 30- 40 kmph (in gust) accompanied with light to moderate rain very likely at isolated places in the district of Gujarat region namely Ahmedabad,” on June 2nd. The Maximum temperature is very likely to remain at 40 degrees Celsius.
