ASI files FIR against 19 property owners for constructions near Mahatma Gandhi’s birthplace

Porbandar: A police complaint has been filed against 19 owners of various properties located within the 200-meter limit of Mahatma Gandhi’s birthplace Kirti Mandir here.
Harish Jivanlal Dasre, a conservation assistant of Junagadh sub circle of the Archaeology Department of India (ASI) has filed a complaint under the Archaeology Department’s rule 1959 and amended rule 2010 under which no new construction can be done without permission of the Archaeological Department within 100 meters and 200-meter limit of nationally protected monuments.
The accused property owners had started construction work without the permission of ASI, for which they were served notices also, however, they ignored notices and continued to do construction. DeshGujarat
